A true story leaning towards science fiction about eight visionaries who in 1991 started a two-year quarantine inside a self-engineered dome replicating Earth’s ecosystem called Biosphere 2. The experiment was a global phenomenon, capturing the everyday reality of being faced with a life-threatening ecological disaster, while being met with increasing criticism for its likeness to a cult. The aim of the project was to test the possibility of creating life outside our home planet, should we have to prepare for the darkest scenario. The film is accompanied by interviews and conversations with the engineers and participants of Biosphere 2, who were involved in the project two decades ago.
